It is important to realize that tattoos do not end with you leaving the tattoo studio, you have to take care of them for a while until they heal to avoid possible risks. You should take care of them even after healing, for example by occasional lubrication with a cream containing vitamins, especially vitamin E.
After tattooing, you can gently wash the tattooed area with clean lukewarm water and carefully dry it with a towel at home. Use clean hands to prevent infections. Leave your tattoo overnight and wash it again with lukewarm water in the morning. It is also recommended to use a protective cream, and repeat the lubrication at least twice a day for about one to three days. But do not overdo it. If scabs appear, do not tear them and do not scratch them. Certainly the tattoo will not benefit, because you can tear away the scabs and tear the color from the tattoo. In general, tattoos should hardly be soaked for the first week, exceptionally only with lukewarm water for as short a time as possible.
What about long-term tattoo care? The greatest risk is to stay in the sun – that is harmful to the tattoo, so either restrict your sun time or use a sunscreen with a strong UV filter. If you follow these tattoo care principles, you will last longer and have no problems with it.
